Fresh Southern Green Beans

- 2 strips bacon - diced
- 1 small onion - chopped
- a drizzle of olive oil
- 2 heaping handfuls of fresh green beans - ends snapped
Cooking Instructions
- In a large saute pan with a lid over medium heat, add the bacon and cook until it begins to brown.
- To this, add the olive oil and onions and saute until soft.
I always like to add a bit of salt during this step.
- Add the green beans and toss them with the sauteed onions and bacon.
- Add about a cup or so of water.
You just want the water to cover the bottom of the pan so the amount of water you add depends on the size of your pan.
- Bring the water to a bubble then turn the heat down to low.
- Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes.
